NY400 Week / Holland on the Hudson presents Pioneers of Change, a festival of Dutch design, fashion and architecture on New York's Governors Island to celebrate 400 years of Dutch-American friendship.

Activities will take place in and around eleven officers' houses at Nolan Park, Governors Island, New York.

About Marcel Schmalgemeijer
Marcel Schmalgemeijer was born in 1968 in Oss, the Netherlands and graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1993 where he specialized in the design of public spaces. His graduation project was an idea for a travelling exhibition of 50 hats belonging to Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, which he hopes to get realized one day. He is currently working as an independent environmental designer in different disciplines, designing for theater (scenography and lighting), exhibitions, public spaces and events. Recently he has designed exhibitions for the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum.
