Who says good design has to be expensive? Fill your backpacks, purses and picnic baskets with affordable Dutch design ware at the 100 dollars and less store designed by Marcel Schmalgemeijer and powered by Droog New York and Wabnitz Editions. It’s at the Staten Island / Staten Eylandt house. Here are just a few samples:
Dish mop set by Gijs Bakker for Droog
A dish-washing brush made out of a brightly coloured foam ball clasped between the arms of a steel fork, which doesn’t need to be thrown away after a few uses. You can also use the spare sponges to juggle.
Domoor by Richard Hutton for NgispeN
Ears are the only parts of the body that keep growing as long as you live. This cup available in several colors is unbreakable.
Garlic crusher by Ineke Hans for Royal VKB
Just crush the garlic clove with the flat side and spread out the contents by rolling over it. Brilliant.
Tea towels by Studio Job
100% cotton tea towels with insect patters made by Studio Job at the Textile Museum in Tilburg.
